“As a long–time ľӰԺ board member and former Chair,ʰǴڱǰCoaldrakebringsa deep knowledgeof higher educationtotherole,” Ms Jackson said.
“Thanks to his experienceas one of Australia’s longest serving Vice-Chancellors, ʰǴڱǰCoaldrakehas athorough understandingof TEQSA’s important role applying appropriate regulation to the self-accrediting universityٴǰ.”
Ms Jackson thankedʰǴڱǰSaundersfor constructively working with the sectorduring histenureas Chief Commissioner.
“In recent times,Professor Saunders hasunderstood the difficulties facing universitiesduring the COVID-19 pandemic and has made concertedefforts to minimise regulatoryburden.”
From 2003 to 2017,ʰǴڱǰCoaldrakewas Vice-Chancellor of Queensland University of Technology. During that time, he was also made an Officer of the Order of Australia for his service to the higher education sector.
Most recently hecompleted the Review of Higher Education Provider Category Standards.
ʰǴڱǰCoaldrakeis theauthor of several well-regarded books about the universitysector, includingRaising the Stakes: Gambling with the future ofuniversities(2016).
