Finalists this year include a groundbreaking invention that produces the world’s cheapest green hydrogen, developing the next generation of medical technology leaders and providing individuals with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to experience university life.

There are 15 inspiring finalists competing across three categories – teaching, research and community service.

Chair of the Shaping Australia Awards judging panel, Ms Lisa Paul AO PSM, said Australian universities play an important role in solving the nation’s biggest challenges.

“The passionate individuals working in our universities transform communities through world-class research, community service and by educating skilled workers,” Ms Paul said.

“I’m excited to see this year’s awards, which showcase the extraordinary work done by Australian universities – work that is crucially important to Australia’s future.”

ľ��ӰԺ CEO Luke Sheehy congratulated the finalists for this year’s awards.

“These awards celebrate the exceptional work being done by our universities and individuals who go above and beyond to improve the lives of all Australians,” Mr Sheehy said.

“We have received nominations in teaching, research and community service and we look forward to sharing the finalists with the community to celebrate the very best of what our universities and their talented people do to shape Australia’s future.”

People’s Choice voting is open until 19 January 2025.

Winners will be announced at Australian Parliament House on 25 February 2025.
